IRVINE, CA — Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA45) scored an impressive first round victory in the Primary Election yesterday and will face a far left opponent in November, offering voters a clear contrast.

“I want to thank the voters in the 45th District for their support,” said Walters. “Voters could not have a more clear choice in November and I am confident we will win.”

“Democrats have nominated a deeply flawed candidate whose extreme left positions are completely out of touch with the vast majority of voters in the 45th District,” said Dave Gilliard, consultant for Mimi Walters.

Called “Elizabeth Warren’s Protege” by Mother Jones magazine, Porter opposes repealing the new Gas Tax, opposed lowering tax rates on small businesses and middle-class Americans and supports budget-busting proposals including Bernie Sander’s government-run health care proposal. While competing for the California Democratic Party endorsement, Porter attacked Democrat Dave Min, who received the Party endorsement, as being “too moderate.”

With some ballots left to be counted in the coming days, Walters holds a commanding 53.4% of the vote with Porter a distant second at 20.0%.
